Islands

Sihanoukville has 32 islands, which are precious treasures and natural potential sites to attract tourists from everywhere due to the crystal-clear ocean and the white sand beaches adorned by the surrounding beautiful natural scenery. Tourists can relax on the white sand, enjoy the dark blue sea, breathe fresh air, have fresh seafood on the beach, and enjoy the sunset views which generate an enthusiastic pleasant feeling, experience, and sweet memory. The largest islands are Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem, which are the most attractive tourist destinations for holidays. Most islands offer accommodation, food, drinks, fishing activities, coral viewing, and other sea sports activities. Apart from those islands, a number of small islands with full potential tourist attractions and high-quality tourism facilities and services are Song Saa, Koh Krabei, Koh Russey, Koh Takeo, Koh Dek Koul Island, etc., while other small islands are also attractive tourist destinations. Getting to the islands is easy. Tourists can travel by speed boat and spend about 40-45 minutes, and a return ticket is around US $25 per person.

SIHANOUK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Sihanouk International airport, located 18 km east of the town, has been experiencing
a robust traffic growth since it was renovated in 2007, launched to have international
routes, and opened for several new lines serving this destination.
In 2019 passengers were up to 1.6 million under the operation of 10 airline companies
covering 11 destinations. Now with the completion of renovation of the existing building
and the extension of the current terminal by 80%, the airport is enlarged from 2,700 sqm
to 4,800 sqm. In 2020, the airport achieved ACA carbon reduction certification level 2.
This new level of certification is a recognition of a relevance of the VINCI Airports’ global
environmental policy which establishes goals for its airports based on its commitment to
the preservation of the environment. It also recognizes the airports’ actions to manage
and reduce CO2 emissions and rewards a multi-annual effort to control and reduce their
carbon footprint. With its endless renovation and high ambition, in 2021, Samdech Akka
Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN gave a great honor to inaugurate new transport
infrastructures which will be another key development strategy for the country.
